Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG) is a coalition formed in 2004 to bring together CSOs at national and district levels to influence government decisions on resource mobilization and utilization for equitable and sustainable development.
Job Summary:. The Communication Specialist will manage our external and internal communications. The Communications Specialist ensures active, consistent and meaningful communications on a day-to- day basis with CSBAG stakeholders through online and print communications. With guidance and support from head of programs , he/she ensures that CSBAG constituents are informed, confident, and ready to raise their voices in promoting people centered budgets that dignifies humanity The incumbent will work collaboratively with all members of CSBAG staff and members and coordinate the dissemination of information to maximize our messages
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Website maintenance and content development (using the WordPress content management system) for www.csbag.org
In charge of managing CSBAG email system and maintaining the organization’s database
Managing CSBAG’s social media, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts
Responsible for designing print collateral, including brochures, short publications, and event invitations and signage
Work closely with vendors, including website developers, graphic designers and print companies
Supporting CSBAG’s basic media relations, including writing press releases and statements, maintaining media database
Offering technical support to Media Relations consultants contracted for special promotions
Measuring and evaluating CSBAG online print communications and media relations
Editing communications materials written by CSBAG’s staff and ensuring all communications adhere to the organization’s style guide
Develop effective corporate communication strategies and Manage internal communications (memos, newsletters etc.)
Build relationships with advocates and key persons and Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements etc.
Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or relevant field
Prior experience as communications specialist
Extremely detail oriented and comfortable developing and/or working with project plans/timelines
Highly flexible and able to work effectively under pressure and deadlines
Previous exposure and experience in web design and content production is a plus
Previous experience in copywriting and editing
Computer literacy i.e. proficiency in MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset
Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
Excellent command of English
