Communications and Learning Director – Kampala – Chemonics International

About US:
Chemonics International is currently implementing the Feed the Future Commodity Production and Marketing Activity (CPMA), financed by USAID. CPMA provides technical support for sustainable production and marketing of high quality beans, maize and coffee in the 34 Feed the Future focus districts in Uganda. CPMA contributes to USAID’s twin objectives of reducing poverty and under-nutrition by sustainably increasing the production and marketing of high-quality maize, beans, and coffee in the Feed the Future focus districts.

Job Summary: The Communications and Learning Director manages four-person staff focused on communications, monitoring and evaluation, learning, and knowledge management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess a MA in an area related to communications, behavior change, and marketing (BA and ten years’ experience can substitute for MA)
A minimum of ten years’ experience directly related to areas such as communications, social marketing, behavior change, and/or knowledge management, with at least five years’ management experience.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of development issues in Uganda, especially in the area of economic growth and agriculture
English verbal and written communication skills and the ability to relate to varied audiences
Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively interact with a wide range of stakeholders
Solid consultative, facilitation and presentation skills
Private sector experience with existing relationships with various media channels outside Kampala highly desired.
