Job Summary: The Communication Specialist will provide overall leadership in the development and implementation of a country-specific communication strategy with the aim of raising awareness of TechnoServe’s activities in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the country specific communication strategy and budgets ensuring that each program is well resourced to support this aspect;
Oversee the planning, logistic and administrative arrangements to steer public relations events and activities that will position the company’s visibility in the public arena as the leader in enterprise development and value chains;
Oversee the production and dissemination of knowledge and communication materials via appropriate platforms and channels (e.g., brochures, video, audio-visual, etc.);
Manages the qualitative aspects of production of all marketing materials, (e.g., quality control, translation, review of layouts and graphic design) across all programs;
Develop and maintain close collaboration with media (print, broadcast and electronic/social), as well as with groups and organizations whose support is essential for achieving communication objectives of the organization;
Manage the branding and visibility of TechnoServe premises, vehicles etc (signage externally and internal visual materials), as well as events like trainings, exhibitions and any other related activities e.g. annual staff meetings, team building activities;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communication, English/Journalism or related field. Possession of relevant Master’s degree is an added advantage;
At least three to five years’ experience in communications, public relations; with progressively responsible professional work experience in development, private or public sectors.
Previous experience in gathering and managing qualitative information, social media platforms and generating internal and external communication pieces;
Possess excellent photography and Graphic design skills and work with different designing tools (adobe suit) and other Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
Proven ability to plan ahead and accommodate unexpected tasks and travel widely within program areas.
