About UNHCR Project:
HIJRA with funding from the UNHCR in Uganda is implementing a multi-Sectoral Program for refugees Oruchinga settlement (Isingiro District) and transit centers in Kisoro and Bundibugyo districts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Supervise and oversee the work of community extension workers, ensuring that work and activities progress as agreed and in line with applicable standards.
· The incumbent will also mobilize and sensitize community extension workers, refugee’s leadership to the importance of respectful dialogue with refugee community.
· Work in liaison with refugee community/committees, develop social recreational and cultural activities in the settlement.
· Identify key protection concerns through participatory process for different age, gender and diversity groups among camp population.
· Responsible for ensuring that HIJRA has up to date records of refugee camp population, based on UNHCR registration, OPM and leadership structures.
· Regular review of registration data, critical analysis of data compared to actual population, and identification of vulnerable groups and individuals for further interventions. Also identification of gaps between registration and actual population.
· Periodically draft reports on community activities and work plans to the Project Manager for donor reporting.
· Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The UNHCR Project Community Service & Development Officer should hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree and related experience
· Excellent communication skills
· Possess the ability to plan ahead and meet deadlines
· Knowledge of UNHCR reporting is desired
· Mature Individual with leadership qualities
· Personal commitment and drive for results, and adaptability in the workplace;
· Possess the ability to work long hours under difficult conditions while maintaining security awareness;
· Strong written and spoken communication skills, in English
