Corporate Services Director – Kampala – Marie Stopes

Job Summary: The Corporate Services Director is a strategic leader responsible for the design, development, delivery and monitoring of corporate support services including: Human resources and internal communications; logistics and procurement of products and services; information and knowledge management; and workplace environment for safety, security and productivity. The incumbent ensures that compliance with MSI Uganda, MSI global and donor guidelines and regulations are included in all staff responsibilities. She/he will steer the use and integration of technology across all corporate support functions to increase transparency, effectiveness and value for money.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Leadership of four separate but linked service teams: Procurement and logistics; Information Communication Technology (ICT); Human Resources (HR); and Administration.
Maintenance of good working conditions leading to safety and security in the work place in
relation to MSI’s duty of care to its workforce.
Clear and inspirational leadership to create a mutually supportive, motivated and trusted team developing individual and collective strengths while understanding the limits of their respective authority areas .
Day to day management and supervision for excellent planning and accountability to MSI Uganda’s other departments
Clear internal and external communication plans and practices
Ensure effective systems for individual performance management to nurture skills and address weakness implemented across the organisation
Budget oversight and management of staff to ensure adherence to critical policies and procedures
2. Oversight and management of risks associated with these service areas, including policies, contracts, procurement practice, HR liabilities:
In charge of negotiating key legal and other contracts, ensuring terms and conditions mitigate MSI Uganda risk and comply with internal and donor requirements
Final oversight of all legal agreements and contracts (such as rent, employee contracts, goods and services)
Mapping and action planning for timely management of all legal agreements
In charge of the development, roll out and activation of policies in line with MSI Uganda’s vision, mission and values
Tracking and review of all legal agreements and contracts
Timely and proactive resolution of contractual negotiations and disputes
3. Realisation of efficiencies and value for money as a result of execellent systems and procedures
In charge of monitoring and analysis of all procurement, HR, administrative, asset management, and legal policies and procedures ensuring compliance and efficient support services that reflect values
Communication and dissemination of policies through execellent induction and staff briefing activities
Establishment of team performance objectives for each support service area to support performance monitoring
Excellent ICT systems realise efficiencies across the organisation
4. Maintenance of good working conditions leading to safety and security in the work place in relation to MSI’s duty of care to its workforce.
Proactive maintenance of all assets including facilities and vehicles
Self-assessment and regular safety checks and documentation across all workplace environments
Register of incidents and action planning
In charge of the development and delivery of effective training to support staff safety

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, HRD, Procurement or in any related discipline
Registration with a relevant professional body
Significant senior management experience at a similar level (donor funded and private sector preferred)
Proven leadership and management skills that motivate performing teams and encourage innovation and creativity
Possess the ability to perform under pressure, handle heavy workloads, and meet stringent reporting deadlines
Excellent communication skills for negotiation and conflict resolution
Clear ability to identify and set performance deliverables
Strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels; Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Excellent leadership and management aptitude leading diverse teams at a distance
