Country Program Manager – Kampala – MAP International

MAP International promotes the Total Health of people living in the world’s poorest communities by partnering to provide essential medicines, promote community health development, and prevent and mitigate disease, disaster and other health threats.

Job Summary: The Country Program Manager will provide strategic, programmatic, and operational leadership to ensure the development of project/ programs that serve MAP’s programmatic vision within Uganda. Manage and ensure appropriate structures, standards, staffing, available resources, and policies adhered to for the strategic programs areas, which correspond to the standards set by the International office.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Annual Planning and Budgeting: Develop the annual program plans and budgets for the Uganda Country Program.
· Monitoring and Evaluation: Make sure that there in continuous improvement in program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of projects in Uganda.
· Networking and Representation: Assist with building relationships and partnerships with donors, foreign and local government representatives, and /or other international and local agencies in Uganda.
· Fundraising: support in the development of cash and gifts – in – kind proposals in coordination with External Relations to support Uganda Programs.
· Human Resources: Provide overall strategic leadership to staff recruitment, retention, capacity building, and orientation.
· Finance: Provide overall strategic leadership on financial accountability standards, procedures, and on – going budget management.
· Security: Actively monitor and ensure that staff security, risk management, and stress and trauma management protocols are developed and implemented.
· Supervision: Coordinate and manage programs and support team. Create positive team environment.
· Perform any other special projects and jobs assigned by immediate supervisor or his/her designated representative.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate should hold a Graduate degree in Health or related field from a recognized college or university and a Post graduate qualifications in public health or related discipline
· Three (3) years supervisory, training and development experience.
· A minimum of three or more years’ experience in a broad range of community development.
· Broad knowledge and understanding of community health, operational planning, monitoring and evaluation, finance, budgeting and fundraising.
· Excellent communications skills — interpersonal, written and verbal.
· Good computer software skills.
· Strong administrative and organizational skills; Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attitude
· Demonstrated participatory and team – oriented style of interaction and maintaining strong cross – cultural relationships.
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
· Working knowledge and experience in other cultures and languages within Uganda.
