Into Your Hands Africa and Africa Development Promise, US nonprofit organizations, are testing an enterprise training curriculum. The curriculum features two business education tracks: 1) a teacher facilitated, basic level track designed for women entrepreneurs who lack previous educational and work experience and require more guidance; and 2) an advanced level, self-guided track for students who have graduated from or attended university and require less supervision.
Job Summary: The Curriculum Developer will test the curriculum to evaluate and make recommendations on changes that could increase group and individual learning and performance. The incumbent will work closely with the Executive Directors to design a new curriculum that is culturally appropriate for local needs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Keenly review/assess current curriculum to ensure that the course meets intended objectives
Use evaluations and data to make recommendations for how to improve and edit curricula
Carry out research and consult community representatives and staff in the design and development of new curriculum
Prepare instructional material and develop outlines with the necessary basic detail to direct instruction
Develop appropriate training materials and programs applying adult learning principles and systematic instructional design to create learning curricula that best suites the needs of the content (includes online, classroom, virtual instructor-led training and blended learning).
Develop curricular goals and outlines for new curriculum and curriculum updates
Lead and work with the instructors who will also assist in curriculum development
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction or 2-3 years of hands-on experience with curriculum development projects
Previous exposure and experience in principles of curriculum development and evaluation for various delivery modalities: face-to-face, self-paced
Previous experience in adult learning theory and instructional design
Demonstrated ability to develop curriculums using analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) in the systematic steps
Excellent written communications, research and evaluation skills
Ability to apply a variety of learning strategies and models for adult learners
Excellent track record of facilitating training and development programs
Ability to provide effective assessment of skills learned during training
Previous exposure and experience in training and development consulting to address rural community needs
Ability to travel as needed by the project
The applicant must be detailed oriented, organized and concise
Must be motivated, a self-starter, with excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Be an effective team player, with a high level of honesty and integrity
Duration of Assignment: Three (3) Months
