About US:
The Electoral Commission, which is established under Article 60 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and mandated to conduct public elections and referenda professionally, impartially and efficiently. It was set up under Article 60 to 67 of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Election Officer/Public Relations will be responsible for active promotion and enhancement of the Electoral Commission’s image as a credible institution in charge of elections in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Render support in preparing press releases/statements, speeches, publications, briefs, fact sheets and other literature relevant to the needs of the Electoral Commission.
The PR Election officer will be carrying out daily analysis of the coverage of Electoral Commission in the print, electronic and online media.
The job holder will be required to prepare and send periodic reports for Electoral Commission’s media coverage.
Responsible for preparing information for update/upload onto the Electoral Commission website and social media pages.
Compile the database of all the local and international media as well key stakeholders in the electoral process.
Serve as a key liaison officer with other departments to obtain departmental information for consolidation and use in the Electoral Commission’s in-house magazine and other publications.
Render support by sending media invitations for press conferences and briefings, including organizing the venues.
Compile stories and edit in-house magazines, articles, statements and brochures.
In charge of developing, compiling and coordinating schedules for talk-shows to be undertaken by the Commission.
Coordinate placement of Electoral Commission adverts in the print, electronic and online media as well as uploading them on the EC website..
Perform any other duties as officially assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Public Relations or Mass Communication or Journalism or a closely related field from a recognized University.
At least two (2) years’ experience in the field of Public Relations or Journalism in Government or a large and reputable organization.
Computer literacy skills and knowledge (MS Office)
Excellent interpersonal skills and capable of working well as a team member.
Exceptional analytical skills.
Good report writing skills
Impeccable integrity.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
Excellent written and spoken English and presentation skills.
Creativity and digital editing skills.
Broad awareness of the various media platforms
Age: 23 years and above.
