About USAID MAPD Program:
USAID/Uganda’s Malaria Action Program for Districts (MAPD) is the flagship project for PMI whose sole purpose is malaria control and ultimately malaria elimination in Uganda. MAPD is mandated to prevent malaria associated morbidity and mortality, through its program activities and hence contribute to the reduction in under-five all-cause mortality rate, as a result of reduced malaria mortality.
Job Summary: The Evaluation Methods Specialist will conduct a baseline assessment for the Malaria Action Program for Districts (MAPD). The assessment will establish the current status of malaria management practices; in the communities, health facilities and district local governments prior to the implementation of USAID/Uganda’s Malaria Action Program activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist with designing the study methodology and sample size.
· Assist with the field management and related logistics.
· Decide what data is needed to answer the specific evaluation questions
· Determine methods for collecting the necessary data
· Mentor and train enumerators on data collection tools
· Analyze and interpret and visually present data collected maps, graphs, tables etc.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant for the Evaluation Methods Specialist should be a mid-level expert with a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, Economics, Applied Research or related field;
· At least eight years’ experience in survey design, sample design and statistical data analysis skills in health-related programs with specific examples listed in his/her CV;
· Demonstrated management of a similar role in five studies, assessments or evaluations;
· Previous exposure and experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data collection and analysis including GIS software skills.
