About US:
Uganda Law Society (ULS) is a body corporate established by the Uganda Law Society Act Cap 276. It is the representative body of the legal profession in Uganda and its mission is to improve the professional standards of members of the Legal Profession, to promote Human Rights and the Rule of Law in Uganda by assisting the Government and the Judiciary in the administration of justice.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for overseeing the management of ULS’ human resource
· Develop and update policies/programmes necessary for the effective functioning of ULS
· The incumbent will oversee the management and sustainable use of ULS’s various assets for the attainment of the mission of ULS
· Supervising the operations of the Legal Aid Project
· Prepare and arrange Executive Council meetings and advise the Executive Council for the better management of ULS
· In charge of designing and formulating annual financial institutional budgets for approval by the Executive Council
· Responsible for the preparation and submission of financial, activity, progress and management reports at the required frequency dealing with the operations and programs of ULS
· Communication of the Executive Council decisions to senior management and ensuring the effective implementation of Council Resolutions and policies at management and administrative levels.
· Oversee the fundraising efforts and resource mobilization to ensure financial sustainability of ULS and its programs
· Grow the membership of the ULS
· Ensure that members get value for money services
· In charge of building and strengthening working relationships with relevant networks, alliances, key stakeholders to achieve the ULS mission
· Build a strong corporate image of ULS
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate should preferably hold a University Degree in Law from a recognised institution
· Possession of post graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre
· Possession of post graduate qualification in management from a recognised institution
· Possession of a Master’s Degree in Management is an added advantage.
· At least five years of progressive management experience in a reputable institution
· Ability to lead teams and think strategically
· Ability to inspire confidence and commitment in others
· Ability to pursue high standards of excellence in line with agreed organisation policies and practices
· Ability to communicate effectively.
