Job Summary:
The Extension Manager will develop and monitor systems, policies, guidelines and procedures for all coffee extension activities, and represent UCDA on all National Coffee matters.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate, link and liaise with MAAIF and district local leaders and other coffee development partners implementing coffee extension related activities such as NAADS, DLGs, Development Partners, Projects, and Coffee Stakeholders.
Prepare departmental budgets and plans, and manage all resources allocated to the Extension Department.
Plan, manage and coordinate all the Directorate’s Extension related programs and activities.
Supervise and give technical guidance to Regional Managers and Regional Coffee Extension Officers in the country.
Plan for the retooling and training of all field staff in coffee extension, and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and their impact to coffee stakeholder beneficiaries.
Plan and participate in coffee extension programs for the improvement of entire coffee value chain, including quality and enforcement of coffee regulations.
Scan for new policy issues in respect to coffee extension delivery programs.
Manage, coach, mentor all Regional Managers and provide Budget Implementation reporting tools to track outputs and impact in their assigned Regions.
Consolidate all field reports and provide periodic reports on coffee extension to the Director and Senior Management for review and guidance.
Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by Management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Uganda Coffee Development Authority Extension Manager job must hold a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in any one of the following disciplines: Agriculture; Agriculture and Rural Innovation; Agribusiness Management; Agricultural Engineering.
Post graduate qualification in agricultural extension or its equivalent.
At least ten (10) years’ working experience in an agricultural extension field, five (5) years of which should have been at a supervisory level.
