Primary responsibilities will include:
Conservation Farming Training
Conduct trainings on conservation farming in smaller and larger groups
Supervise Farmer Coordinators in training the farmer groups
Organise regular farmer meetings and keep close contact with the farming community in general
Identify knowledge gaps of the local farmers and feed those gaps into the training schedule planning
Disburse inputs such as seed, fertilizer, and herbicides to farmer coordinators for demonstration plots from different seed suppliers
Coordinate demonstration plots activities such as input disbursement, field layouts, field days and monitoring
Supervision of women learning centers
Business education component
Analyze Community needs to understand knowledge gaps
Mobilize farmer groups for business trainings such as business group formation and farming as a business
Credit component
Mobilize and choose suitable farmers to enter the credit scheme
Train/educate farmers on loan acquisition and re-payment
Loan recovery – Monitor farmers’ fields to avoid loan default
Monitoring and Evaluation
Work closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Field Agents in order to track the programmes’ impacts
Required skills and experiences:
A minimum of 3 years experience within an Outgrower scheme with responsibility and experience in the relevant fields mentioned above
Degree in agronomics or related field
Understanding and interest of the private sector a must
Fluent in Luo/Acholi
Fluent reading, writing, speaking and computer literacy skills in English
Good working knowledge of economic development and agricultural value chains
Experience in cooperating with private and non-profit sector
