Fundraising Manager – Gulu – Children of Africa Uganda

Children of Africa Uganda is an international non-profit organization dedicated to bringing hope for the vulnerable and destitute children in war torn and post conflict countries in Africa and Middle East. The organization’s mission is to improve the lives of children affected by wars and diseases through high quality translational research, clinical expertise, education programs, child protection and livelihoods.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Donor Acquisition and Retention:
Lay strategies to retain and grow the involvement and donations from which the organization has already benefited. Developing and delivering the Children of Africa Uganda Fundraising strategy.
Leverage the networks of the board and existing Supporters Group of prominent individuals to bring new donors to the organization.
Manage and lead the Fundraising Team to raise, develop and implement a fundraising strategy for Back-Up in line with the organization’s changing needs.
Actively participate in the design and execution of public campaigns, appeals, events and marketing and database techniques to stimulate donations across the donor spectrum.
Work closely with the senior technical staff, establish policies and protocols for recording, maintaining and extracting donor information consistent with privacy legislation.
Focus on larger corporate and significant individual donors, meeting with them regularly as appropriate.
Securing and developing sponsorship for fundraising
Contribute to the overall running of the charity as an active member of the management team events.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant for the Fundraising Manager vacancy should hold a degree in a relevant field. Possession of a Post graduate diploma in project planning and management or a master’s degree in the related development studies is vital.
Certificate in Fundraising (desirable)
Significant experience in developing relationships/partnerships at a senior level
At least five years’ experience of a similar fundraising role in developing and implementing effective fundraising programs, products and initiatives with a track record in achieving revenue targets and growing income.
Demonstrated success in building individual donation revenue and programs.
Demonstrated success in securing grants or major donations from philanthropic bodies, government, major donors and the corporate sector.
Proven ability to work effectively in a team, with a friendly, positive, can-do attitude, enthusiasm and social conscience.
Highly motivated creative thinker, self starter with flexibility and ability to adapt to new ideas, systems, processes, prioritize tasks, forward plan, meet deadlines anddeliver results.
Demonstrated skills in project and time management and juggling competing deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to engage building relationship with supporters.
Budget development and management experience
Working knowledge and understanding of legal requirements to fundraise in all states and territories
Demonstrated online and digital literacy skills including proficiency in office software, social communications, intermediate+ Excel skills (databases, HTML, web-based skills, an advantage).
Ability to work with minimal supervision
