About Us:
The Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act 2013 and incorporated under the Company’s Act 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is; “To handle the State’s Commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry.”

Job Summary: The Geoscience Manager will oversee the technical aspects of the company’s resource profile through Leading a multidisciplinary team and coordination of the same with the Joint venture partners.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Tasked with monitoring the acquisition of geoscience data to ensure quality
Responsible for interpreting data to determine subsurface geology and resource base
Developing geological reservoir models to understand structure, reservoir characterisation and petroleum quality and content.
Estimating the petroleum resources/Reserves and classifying the company’s resource portfolio with prudent classification frameworks
Heading multidisciplinary geoscience team to give optimal solutions to field development of UNOC oil and gas assets.
The incumbent will coordinate with Joint Venture Partners on jointly operated assets
The jobholder will work in liaison with drilling engineers to determine drilling locations on the basis of the interpretation of the data and models developed;
Tasked with planning and undertaking Development drilling programme, after collecting and modelling all available data, including planning locations and trajectory of development wells and putting well proposals together in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team;
Develop reservoir management and surveillance programs and identifying further opportunities in fields on production.
Responsible for the development of proposals for field development including enhanced oil recovery.
Assist the exploration team in evaluating and ranking the resources, risks and uncertainties of the prospects to be drilled and suggest technical exploration and development programs.
Interpretation and integration of well results, analysis and interpretation (final well reports and postmortem) into geological studies including modeling studies.
Issue and defend recommendations jointly with geophysics, reservoir, subsurface and drilling operations to the technical management.
Guide on optimal geoscience interpretation tools
In charge of managing and mentoring of the geoscience team.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a Masters of Science in Petroleum Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering or any relevant Degree.
Possession of a post graduate qualification in management of petroleum exploitation operations will be an added advantage.
At least eight years’ experience in petroleum exploration and/or development operations.
Previous exposure and experience in resource estimation and evaluation of petroleum Assets.
Prior experience in leading geoscience teams.
Significant experience gained through fieldwork, well-site operations and/or research as well as providing valuable hands-on experience.
