Head Contracts Preparation and Administration Desk – Kampala – Bank of Uganda

About BOU:
The Bank of Uganda (BoU) is the Central Bank of the Republic of Uganda. It was opened on the 15th August 1966. It is 100% owned by the Government of Uganda but it is not a government Department. Bank of Uganda conducts all its activities in close association with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED). Bank of Uganda is responsible for monetary policy and maintaining price stability.

Job Summary: The Head Contracts Preparation and Administration Desk (Administration and Loan Documentation) will offer legal support for General Administration and Loan Documentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will process documentation relating to loans including; drafting and processing of loan agreements, mortgages, perfection of securities, processing insurance, renewal of licenses and extension of leases, releases of securities after full payment of loans.
Offers technical support to the staff loan committee
Compiles and files loan documentation
Prepares Departmental reports on matters under litigation and state of securities
Works closely with Government Departments such as land office, company registry and courts registries, Uganda Revenue Authority, insurance companies etc
Identify risks in the unit and reporting all incidents to the Department Risk Liaison Officer
Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Executed Loan Contracts
Legal opinions on file
Regular Litigation status reports
Updated loan register

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Bank of Uganda job opportunity must hold a First Class or Upper Second Class Degree in Law from a recognized University.
Certificate of Enrolment
Hold a Valid Practicing Certificate
Possession of a Post graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the law Development Centre.
Post-graduate qualifications in banking regulation will be an added advantage.
Possession of a postgraduate degree in law will be an added advantage.
A minimum of two years working experience as a practicing advocate in a commercial law firm or a legal department of a government or corporate entity.
Working knowledge in Contract drafting and negotiations.
Fair knowledge in Financial Sector regulation.
Computer literacy skills
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Good team player
Good communication and writing skills
Strong personal initiative
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Age: 25-30 years
