Uganda Law Society (ULS) is a body corporate established by the Uganda Law Society Act Cap 276. It is the representative body of the legal profession in Uganda and its mission is to improve the professional standards of members of the Legal Profession, to promote Human Rights and the Rule of Law in Uganda by assisting the Government and the Judiciary in the administration of justice.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of the staff of the ULS
· Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions;
· The incumbent will ensure proper hiring, motivation and retention of staff for the various ULS Departments
· Maintain a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions
· Make sure of adequate planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors
· Recommend benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs;
· Ensure legal adherence and compliance by monitoring and implementing the labour laws
· Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures
· The HR Manager will maintain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system, keeping past and current records
· Maintain human resource by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees
· Maintain human resource staff job results by counselling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicants for this vacancy should at least hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management from a recognized institution
· Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from a recognized institution
· Working knowledge in Benefits and Compensation Administration, Performance Management, Communication Processes and Employment Laws
· At least three years’ experience in Human Resource Management or a relevant office
· Ability to identify and provide opportunities that enable others reach their full potential
· Ability to communicate effectively
· Ability to work with and through teams.
