War Child Canada is an international charity organization that works with war-affected communities to help children reclaim their childhood through access to education, opportunity and justice. In Uganda, through its Youth and Peace Building Programs, War Child Canada builds refugee and Ugandan youth capacity to live peaceful and productive lives. War Child Canada will now be implementing the USAID funded programme Suluhu: promoting Cross Border Peace Building through Youth Engagement in the refugee settlements of the West Nile region and Kiryandongo. War Child Canada also implements SGBV prevention and response programming, namely the BPRM funded program Safe from the Start.
Job Summary: The Human Resources Advisor supports War Child Canada in all people leadership practices including recruitment and retention, performance evaluation, internal policy development, and staff support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Update and maintain staff contracts, job descriptions and organogram
· Oversee the recruitment processes, staff appraisal, and staff retention initiatives
· Ensure internal policy is up to date and adequate
· Render support in staff mediation, disciplinary hearings and other staff supports.
· Perform any other duties as assigned by the Country Director.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree in human resources
· At least three years’ experience at a global organization leading human resources
· Prior experience working with a charity or a law firm
· Excellent communication skills both written and spoken in English
· Working knowledge of Ugandan employment law
