Internal Auditor – Kampala – Higher Education Students’ Financing Board

About US:
The Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESFB) is a body Corporate established by an Act of Parliament, number 2 of 2014, to provide both Loans and Scholarships to Ugandan Students to pursue Higher Education. The objective of the Loan Scheme is to increase equitable access to Higher Education in Uganda and also support qualified students who may not afford the cost of Higher Education.

Job Summary: The Internal Auditor will be responsible for implementing audit plans/executing audit work and ensuring compliance to internal controls.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Execute audits in accordance with the annual audit plan.
Ensure existence of permanent audit files.
Perform adhoc Audits as may be directed by the Senior Internal Auditor.
Evaluate the adequacy of any internal controls of the new systems being introduced.
Identify potential risk areas in the Board and recommend remedial action.
Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the Senior Internal Auditor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The incumbent should hold an Honors Degree with a specialty in Accounting or Finance from a recognized University.
At least Level/Part II of any of the Professional accounting qualifications recognized under the Accountants’ Act, Cap 266.
Possession of the CIA is desirable and the CFSA is an added advantage.
A minimum of four or more years’ working experience as Internal Auditor in a financial services sector.
Possess IT/computer skills and a demonstrated ability to apply these skills in meeting the objectives of the Internal Audit department.
Maintains professional standards of performance by keeping current with best Internal Audit practices through self-training and participating in recommended courses and in-house trainings.
Demonstrate competent knowledge of accounting principles, auditing standards techniques, laws and regulations governing the Financial Services Sector in Uganda.
Self driven with high sense of responsibility.
Possess the ability to meet deadline with minimal supervision.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ethics and integrity.
