About MTAC:
Management Training and Advisory Centre (MTAC) is a body corporate under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives; established initially as an ILO/UNDP/GOU Project in 1964 and later, by an Act of Parliament Cap. 29 of 1969. It was established, among other things, to promote industrial and enterprise development.
Job Summary: The Internal Auditor will conduct an independent appraisal of the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal controls, policies, procedures and standards by which the MTAC resources are managed
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Steer the development, review and implementation of the Internal Audit Manual in accordance with relevant laws and regulations
Develop, implement and monitor internal audit strategies and annual audit plans in line with the Internal Audit Manual
Provide technical support in designing internal control systems
Examine, evaluate and report compliance with internal control procedures and standards
Establish and implement investigative framework to follow up cases of fraud or misappropriation and recommend ways of preventing any re-occurrence
Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc internal audits on MTAC operations and recommend appropriate actions
Steer the development and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive Risk Management Framework
Works closely with the Accountant to develop a work program to implement external auditors’ recommendations
Ensure that the periodic financial statements conform to the dictates of the Financial and Accounting Manual and other policies, regulations or instruments
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a B.Com, BBA, BAF plus Full Membership to a recognized professional auditing body like CIA
A minimum of six or more years’ work experience, at least 3 of which should have been in the position of Auditor
Three years teaching/training experience in a higher education institution
Working knowledge of Computer-aided auditing techniques
Skills in Programme Management Audit and Reporting
Modern risk management frameworks
Computer literacy skills (MS. Office based applications)
