Yunus Social Business Foundation Uganda Ltd is part of a global network of social business
Incubator Funds founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus, which are currently operational in Albania, Bangladesh, Brazil, Columbia Germany, Haiti, India, Japan, Tunisia and Uganda. YSB provides coaching and consulting to social business entrepreneurs, help to create and develop employment-generating social businesses, and finance these businesses in order to help them scale their operations.

Job Summary: The Investment Manager will support the social businesses in our portfolio and to conduct due diligence on new social businesses in our pipeline. The Investment Manager will report to the Managing Director on strategic result areas related to deal sourcing, financing and due diligence, portfolio management, communication and international YSB initiatives and working groups. Operationally, the Investment Manager will work under the direct supervision and support of the Head of Investment, and take responsibility for many exciting aspects of YSB Uganda’s investment and portfolio management process. The incumbent will mainly be responsible for sourcing new social businesses, handling the financing and due diligence process and portfolio management

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Providing social entrepreneur services during the YSB accelerator programs, including sourcing and selecting candidates, training and coaching of participants
· Takes overall responsibility for the support YSB Uganda offers to social businesses in our portfolio – working closely with entrepreneurs to advise them on their business development and management, including financial management, financial planning etc.
· In charge of developing the Social Business pipeline including identification and sourcing of new Social Business opportunities and entrepreneurs
· Continuous improvement of Social Business Fund reporting and tracking tools to monitor and evaluate the social as well as financial impact of the initiative
· Undertaking due diligence processes for social businesses in our pipeline – evaluating business plans and financial models, presenting proposals to the YSB Investment Committee and working on the legal contracts and Terms & Conditions of successful investments.
· Take active participation in global work streams on a variety of topics contributing to the development of YSB globally i.e. working with team members in the Head Office (Germany) and other country teams to support on a diverse range of topics including: development of new tools, processes and products, fundraising, communications, impact assessment, research etc.
· Perform any other duties and responsibilities, as required, to help ensure that the YSB Initiative Uganda is a success – including local networking and communications, sourcing deals, investor relations etc.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship or related fields
· A minimum of five years’ experience in at least one of the following sectors:
o Strategy consulting – experience with SME is valued
o Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital
o Project Management in the private sector
· Exhibit commitment to serving society’s needs and a high level of personal integrity;
· Strong financial modelling skills
· Superb analytical skills, critical thinking, evidence-based analysis, efficiency and thoroughness, demonstrated by excellent academic qualifications;
· Demonstrated leadership, management and organizational skills; experience of managing teams in challenging environments;
· A high level of passion, entrepreneurial energy, personal initiative and responsibility;
· Broad knowledge and understanding of “social business” and how this is related to other concepts, e.g. social innovation, social entrepreneurship, inclusive business, and impact investing
· Strong cultural understanding and skills to manage differences;
· Diplomacy, negotiating skills and team-working skills;
· Willingness to travel outside of Kampala, including to rural areas
· Fluency on both spoken and written English
