Mango Fund is an impact investment fund that seeks to encourage economic development in emerging economies by getting behind local entrepreneurs – especially those that are performing value addition activities within their countries. We seek to support the “missing middle” – entrepreneurs that are too big for microfinance institutions, but too small to access loans from the banking sector.

Job Summary: The Investment Officer position will be responsible for shaping and maximizing the impact potential of the fund through developing and fostering relationships with clients, increasing the institutional sales and managing the entire customer lifecycle for the portfolio of businesses in which we invest. The investment officer will actively participate in the following activities as Mango Fund serves its markets.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead Sourcing: Find business customers that require capital to overcome business growth hurdles – opportunities are expected to be identified within both existing customers as well as new customers
Due Diligence: Perform key information gathering and due diligence required to complete 1)
Investment analysis and 2 ) investment proposals for the investment committee and also Ensure loan applications are complete and correct.
Client Management: Develop lasting business relationships with business owners within your region and manage the entire customer lifecycle for the portfolio of businesses in which we invest (investees).
Collections: Assure that scheduled and delinquent payments are collected from investees.
Technical Assistance: The jobholder will become a trusted advisor to our investees and Identify opportunities to support investees with available in-house or 3rd party value-added technical services.
Admin & Reporting: Maintain all administrative processes and systems as well as be ready to communicate and report out on the activities of an investee or prospect at any time.
Institutions liaison: Serves as a key liaison between the clients and Mango Fund.
Customer Service: Maximize client satisfaction to ensure retention of clients; expand relationships by reviewing needs and recommending investment solutions.
Confidentiality: Maintains customer’s confidence by keeping loan information confidential.
Other Operations: As a start-up, it is expected that all people will pitch in with a variety of additional operations, legal, marketing, accounting, and administrative activities to assist in the development of the organization

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Investment Officer job placement should hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree with specialization in finance, accounting or economics, social sciences or development studies;
At least five years’ experience in working with a financial institution(s) specifically in loans with an excellent track record.

Excellent teamwork skills;
Strong client service orientation with openness to feedback and new ideas;
Previous experience of having worked with SME investments related to the manufacturing, Agro processing, agribusiness and services sectors will be an added advantage.
Fluency in English and a local Ugandan language is essential
