Job Summary: The Investment Risk Manager will actively participate in risk management of the Fund’s activities by providing risk reviews and analysis. He/she will support the Risk Manager in identification, assessment, measurement, reporting and control of risks. He/she will also be responsible for the quality and management of risk reporting and risk framework implementation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Regularly review and assess inherent risks with new investment proposals and make relevant recommendations.
Intuitively analyze financial institutions performance and determine’ risk rating for each for purposes of deposit placements.
Prepare and send periodic (monthly, quarterly and annual) and adhoc reports regarding the status of the Fund’s investment portfolio risk.
Develop relevant tools/models for analyzing and quantifying the impact of risks to the current and potential investments.
Actively monitor and report on the Fund’s compliance with the Investment guidelines issued by the URBRA from time to time.
Monitor compliance with the provisions of the investment policy (and any other relevant policies of the Fund) in the investment process.
Monitor the Fund’s asset – liability structure and make relevant recommendations to management.
Perform sensitivity analysis to determine the level of volatility of proposed investments and make appropriate recommendations to management.
Undertake stress testing of the Fund’s investment portfolio risk and advise management of the necessary actions to be taken in addressing the revealed exposures.
Works closely with risk owners, participate in control self-assessment and track implementation of action points.
Regularly sensitize the relevant departments i.e. Investment, Finance regarding investment risk control.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics with professional qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Risk Management such as; ACCA, CPA, CFA, FRM or equivalent
At least five years’ experience in a busy business organization or professional services firm, preferably in risk management, investment, treasury or finance departments.
Excellent analytical skills and keenness to detail
Detailed knowledge of market and financial risks
Financial modeling skills especially in excel
Self-motivation and ability to work under minimum supervision.
Excellent organizational and planning skills
High degree of creativity and innovation
Ability to provide appropriate advice to control risks
Cognitive ability
Excellent interpersonal skills
Good leadership skills
