About US:
Pwc would like to recruit for Umeme, a public company cross listed on both the Uganda Securities Exchange and the Nairobi Securities Exchange with over 6,483 shareholders, including high value international institutional investors. Umeme operates under a concession with a structural monopoly in the distribution of electricity across Uganda, distributing 99% of electricity in Uganda through a single buyer model.
Job Summary: The Investor Relations Manager will be responsible for enabling effective two-way communication between the company, the investors, regulators, business and financial analysts, and all the company’s shareholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve the key point of contact for the company’s investment community;
Develop and maintain a company investor relations plan;
Assist the CFO with the production of annual/ periodic financial reports, and company statements;
Develop and actively monitor performance metrics for the investor relations function;
Actively monitor operational changes through ongoing contacts with company management, and develop investor relations messages based on these changes;
Create presentations, press releases, and other communication materials for earnings releases, industry events, and presentations to analysts, brokers, and investors;
Ensure the company communication channels including the website are updated with relevant investor information;
Represent the views of the investment community to the company’s management;
Monitor analyst reports and summarize them for senior management and directors;
Establish and maintain relationships with stock exchange representatives;
Organize conferences, road shows, earnings conference calls, and investor meetings;
Technically support the CFO in development of the corporate finance strategy for the long term capital investment programme, including donor/concessionary financing; and
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree Business, Accounting, Finance or any other related fields with a proven track record of at least five years in managing investor relations. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, and CFA will be an added advantage.
Working knowledge and experience of the local and regional capital markets; and
Prior experience in attending and making presentations at local and international investor relations meetings and conferences.
Excellent written and verbal skills;
Possess excellent analytical skills;
Possess the ability to build and maintain relationships with different stakeholders;
Past experience in managing investor relations;
