Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical advice and support for project implementation (45%)
Responsible for planning and developing viable livelihood approaches in the target rural communities in co-operation with stakeholders.
Provide capacity building and training of project staff and other key stakeholders to arrange field trainings to selected community groups on livelihood interventions, climate-smart agriculture, environmental protection, food security etc. • Develop livelihood promotion capacities of the staff and community partners.
Project leadership, management, and monitoring (40 %)
Lead project implementation, ensuring that all planned livelihood and capacity building activities and targets are achieved within budget and timeframe.
Develop and implement active monitoring and evaluation using livelihood tools and approaches agreed with M&E Officer, analyse data, and make adjustments to improve quality and effectiveness.
Ensure VSLA approaches and methodologies are incorporated into the project.
Manage, supervise, and provide support the technical field teams in planning and implementation of the project, ensuring adequate monitoring, reviewing of progress and beneficiary feedback, and identify corrective actions.
Facilitate submission of quality project reports on time, using agreed formats.
Stakeholder relations and networking (10%)
Liaise with other NGOs and relevant government agencies to ensure good coordination and avoid duplication, share lessons.
Communicate internally with HR, Finance, Administration, Logistics and Information units to ensure that project needs and progress are well understood, and that necessary information for units’ work is available.
Contribute, where appropriate, to advocacy and information work.
Financial management (5 %)
In coordination with FRC Finance Manager, ensure compliance with FRC and donor regulations and finance policies, as well as government rules and regulations on legal compliance.
Participate in budget control and expenditure management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate must hold an advanced Degree in Social Development, Sustainable livelihoods, agriculture, agribusiness, business, climate adaptation, food security.
At least five years of experience in livelihood / agriculture / climate adaptation intervention working with rural communities.
At least two years’ project management experience.
Ability to prioritize a demanding workload and to work under minimal supervision.
Excellent planning and organisational skills.
Knowledge in change management and capacity building.
Good communication, feedback, and interpersonal and supervisory skills, assertive and able to question unclear transactions.
Willingness to step in and solve difficult situations.
Good computing skills; proficiency on Word, Microsoft Office packages and M & E tools such as Kobo toolbox.
