About Us:
The Parliamentary Pension Scheme (PPS) was established by the Parliamentary Pensions Act 2007 as a Contributory Hybrid Cash Balance Retirement Benefit Plan for the Members of Parliament of Uganda and the staff of the Parliamentary Commission. The Scheme is managed by a Board of Trustees, constituted in accordance with the Act.
Job Summary: The Loans Officer will actively facilitate the process of loan evaluation, loan disbursement and loan portfolio management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Advise borrowers on terms and procedures of loan application and maintain records of the loan portfolio;
Compile and complete loan application documents and submit for evaluation, verification and recommendation;
The jobholder will update loan files and maintain the loan portfolio details;
Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy and to the approved terms;
Prepare re-payment schedules for the loans as per approved terms and follow up to ensure loan repayments are made on time;
Handle members’ complaints and answer questions about the process and procedures;
Enforce the loans management policy and procedures and propose updates where necessary;
Prepare and submit loan portfolio reports on the number of members, loan amounts, repayment status, and follow up action on outstanding loans;
Provide support during auditing process;
Any other duties relevant to the job as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold an Honors Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or Business Administration (Accounting Option) or Statistics or Economics from a recognized University/ Institution.
The applicant must be a member of a professional accounting body like ACCA, ICPA or CIMA.
At least three years of related work experience preferably in an accounting or finance function, with two (2) years served in a credit or loans management from a reputable organization
Ability to work under minimum supervision.
Good working knowledge of computerized accounting environment,
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Information Technology skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to promote teamwork.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Have a high degree of integrity.
Possess strong credit analysis skills.
Age limit: 28 years and above
