Job Summary: The Manager Capital and Regulatory Reporting will avail information and insights about earnings and capital optimisation based on what is unfolding in the market over a short to long-term horizon to shape the right decisions which enable the bank to deliver on its promise to clients and shareholders. The incumbent will be supporting the bank’s capital optimisation agenda including risk adjusted returns. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Capital:
Preparation of the bank’s medium term capital plan and ensuring the same is calibrated against the bank’s strategy and forecasts
The capital stress tests and regulatory requirements (BoU & SARB)
Consider levels of surplus capital capacity in conjunction with liquidity available in determining optimal balance sheet structuring.
Ensure that the policies and standards relating to capital management are up todate and appropriately approved.
Tasked with the implementation of the bank’s capital management framework and ensuring the governance around capital management is complied with
Support ALCO in driving the bank’s capital optimization agenda by providing appropriate guidance on capital holding, capital mix.
Reporting on risk adjusted metrics (RAPM) at levels that enable business to intervene appropriately.
Capital performance reporting including Return on Regulatory Capital, Return on equity as well as the whole range of RAPM metrics
Set up of required key capital risk and performance metrics with monthly reporting. Including regular capital stress tests.
Support the co-ordination of the update to the Bank’s Integrated Recovery plan.
Responsible for the Bank’s economic capital agenda through coordination inputs in a timely and accurate manner, understand and investigate results and prepare reports on it.
Regulatory:
Ensuring compliance with BOU and SARB regulations including reporting requirements
Facilitate in liaison with the compliance department all regulatory review activities including onsite reviews by providing information and other support required.
Tasked with the ongoing review of the regulatory landscape for changing and emerging issues and advising ALCO to ensure bank readiness for the same
To maintain month end data to enable reporting on historical compliance or non-compliance with limits and guidelines, with appropriate commentary over monthly, quarterly or annual periods;
Other strategic areas:
Pre-emptively anticipate capital requirements by understanding business strategy and business asset pipelines;
Understand and support the Treasurer in the FTP calibration and advise ALCO on the necessary FTP changes.
Understand and support the Manager Strategy & Investor relations to develop, maintain and implement the stakeholder mapping and engagement plan to ensure consistent market communications
Understand and support the Manager Strategy & Investor relations to manage relationships with analysts, rating agencies, fund managers, regulators, financial media and other stake-holders.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Stanbic Bank Manager Capital and Regulatory Reporting job placement should preferably hold a Business degree (B.Com/BBS preferably) or other with experience in a busy business/ operational environment
Qualification with professional accountancy. E.g. ACCA, CPA
Five years of experience in banking or fast paced business environment some of which is directly in accounts/finance, involved or leading in planning, forecasting and reporting.
Good computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word).
Working knowledge of accounting software. (Knowledge of SAP, Finacle)
Understanding of Ugandan and South African Banking regulations will be an added advantage.
