STIR Education is an International NGO currently working in Uganda and India, creating a movement of Teacher Changemakers and driving improvements in children’s learning. STIR see’s teachers as the solution; and is building a teacher-led movement to improve children’s learning from within the system itself; by creating local collaborative networks of teachers who develop professional practices and skills to improve learning. STIR is currently focused on India and Uganda where in just three years, it has reached over 14,000 teachers, who are impacting learning for 450,000 children.
Job Summary: The M&E Officer will support STIR Education through the management of large amounts of data with high degree of speed, accuracy, and attention to detail. The M&E Officer will work closely with STIR’s Monitoring and Evaluation Lead and with STIR’s existing team of managers and other staff in the Uganda office as well as with colleagues in India.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The incumbent will assist the STIR Programme Managers in ensuring prompt and accurate data collection and entry in electronic database
· Update and maintain STIR’s internal and external databases containing programmatic and operational information
· The M&E Officer will also update, maintain, retrieve, and prepare data for analysis by sorting, cleaning and reviewing existing information
· Responsible for checking source documents for data accuracy and quality
· Transcribe qualitative data gathered in audio or video format as required
· Support with data analysis requirements for both qualitative and quantitative data, including understanding key highlights and trends across programs as required
· The incumbent will support with field activities related to evaluation, data collection and data quality control
· Support the Monitoring and Evaluation Lead in the design of data collection templates and forms as required
· Comply with data integrity and security policies
· Support with the migration of data onto STIR Salesforce platform
· Provide timely support on any other Monitoring and Evaluation tasks as required
· Perform any other duties and responsibilities as maybe required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant must hold an undergraduate degree or higher
· The ideal candidate for the M&E Officer vacancy must have keen interest in managing and handling large amounts of data. Candidates with prior experience preferred.
· Previous experience in managing data collection, entry and analysis and knowledge about using and managing databases
· Proficiency in using MS Excel, Microsoft Access, and other relevant software
· Previous exposure and experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in the education sector
· Advanced computer skills and proven ability to enter data at fast speed
· Proficiency in speaking and understanding English
