The United States Government under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief
(PEPFAR) is a key partner in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda that plans to complement the Government of Uganda’s (GOU) effort in addressing the Human Resources for Health (HRH) shortage. The support aims to scale up HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment interventions in light of the rising HIV/AIDS prevalence in the country. Health workers recruited under this support will be contracted by the implementing Partners and they will be seconded to identified hospitals and Health Centres.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The Officer participates in diagnosis, treatment and management of patients
· Routinely evaluates patients and refers them for specialized health care.
· Participates in the delivery of quality health care to patients.
· Adheres to the professional Code of Conduct and Ethics.
· Takes part in Outreach and community health programmes.
· Participates in research activities and health data collection.
· Compiles and submit periodic reports.
· Takes part in continuing Professional Development Programmes.
· Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The Medical Officers should hold an MBChB Degree or its equivalent, from a recognized University/ Institution.
How to Apply:
All suitably qualified and interested candidates should strictly adhere to the following requirements to avoid disqualification:
1. Complete all parts of the application form (PSF 3, Revised 2008), download here, and submit three (3) copies for each post in case more than one job is applied for.
2. On each application form the following must be attached;
· Recent and original copies of the passport size photographs.
· Copies of the academic and professional certificates.
· Copies of letters of appointment, plus confirmation letters as it may apply.
· Copies of Registration Certificates and valid Practicing Licenses for Health Workers who are required by law to register with the relevant Professional Councils.
3. It is emphasized that:
· All applications should bear the name of the Institution, title of the post and its reference number. (check at top of advert)
· Applicants must state clearly on the application forms their contact addresses and telephone numbers.
· Short listed candidates shall be required to bring their unlaminated original certificates at the interview. Failure to present the original certificates or any other relevant documents may lead to automatic disqualification from interviews. Health Workers who are on long term training must not apply.
NB: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Shortlisted candidates shall be required to bring their original certificates unlaminated at the interview. Candidates who will present forged certificates are to be handed over to the Police for appropriate action. Health workers who are already in government service or private not for profit (PNFP) employment should not apply and will not be considered.
