Introduction
Build Africa is an International NGO that has been operational in Uganda since 1996. Build Africa Uganda (BAU) programmes focus on Education and Livelihood improuvâmes. BAU currently works in 13 districts with its field programs coordinated through two Area offices located in Kumi and Masindi.
BAU seeks an external consultant(s) or agency with whom to collaborate in the design and delivery of the Menstrual Hygiene management training (TOT) for up to 10 staff. The exercise aims at equipping BAU staff and volunteers with skills in training pupils (both boys and girls) in Menstruation management. On acquiring the skill, staff will then roll out the training in schools and communities.
Expected Output
The consultant is expected to conduct a Three day training aimed at equipping staff with the following
• Key elements concerning reproductive health.
• Facilitation skills so that staff are able to deliver MHM trainings in schools
• Provide a manual that TOTs will use to guide them while rolling out the trainings in schools.
• A report on the training.
Recruitment of a consultant
The selected consultant(s) or agency will assist in the design, preparation and facilitation of the MHM training as well as compiling a report outlining the workshop’s proceedings, including practical recommendations and operational tools which can be used by the team in the future.
Key tasks
Consultant(s)/agency will complete the following tasks, in close consultation with BAU:
• Review of all relevant documentation of BAU programming
• Draft the agenda for training.
• Design and develop a ToT on MHM for BAU.
• Present interactive and flexible facilitation tools and material aids for brainstorming prepared prior to the workshop
• Facilitate the training
The ToT is not only expected to equip BAU staff with Knowledge on Menstruation management, but also equip them with Facilitation skills so that they are able to carry out similar trainings in schools.
The training should also give an insight in to the broader aspect of reproductive health and the challenges therein.
The training should also include a life skills session. This is key for adolescent girls; because it helps them to cope up with the challenges of Menstruation.
Consultants profile
• Experienced (5-10 years) management or people’s development consultant or agency in MHM
• Proven track record of facilitating Menstrual Hygiene Management and knowledge sharing workshops and consultancy experience.
• Proven experience in facilitating a broad understanding of reproductive health and sexuality for adolescents
Payments, budget and reporting
The contractor will be paid a lump sum in one installment at the end of the assignment.
HOW TO APPLY:
The consultant will be required to submit both a technical and financial proposal to Build Africa Uganda (see address given below). The technical proposal should cover:-
1. Experience of individual / firm in relation to the Menstrual Hygiene Management, reproductive health and sexuality
2. Understanding (definition) of the purpose of the Menstrual Hygiene Management
3. Methodology, reproductive health and sexuality
4. Activity schedule (work plan).
