About UNBS:
Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade Industry and Cooperatives mandated to coordinate the elaboration of standards and quality of products and services so as to facilitate fair trade, promote local industries and protect consumers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Oversee UNBS’ efforts of performance management and quality improvement programs.
· Regularly engage with Line Managers to plan, monitor and appraise staff key result areas in order to improve performance
· Ensure maintenance of a safe and healthy work place environment for UNBS staff
· Work closely with Heads of Departments to analyze talent needs, and design annual talent plan.
· Provide continuous guidance, assessment, coaching, and counselling of staff who have performance related challenges and advise on support systems for such staff.
· The incumbent will be in charge of developing tools to align the performance/outputs of UNBS to strategic plan
· Prepare and submit regular HR reports and statistics
· Develop and implement capacity building strategies and succession plans in line with departmental needs and Human resources manual.
· Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager Human Resource.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The Principal Human Resource Officer should hold a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management. Also, the incumbent must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in either Human Resource, Business and B.Com (Human Resource Management option) Social Sciences from a recognized University/Institution. Possession of a post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management is an added advantage
· At least eight years’ HR-related work experience
· Applicants who are members of the professional HR body have an added advantage
· Computer literacy skills in MS Word, Access, Excel, Power point and Internet Applications
· The successful candidate needs to be a team player with passion for people performance and development
· Excellent communication skills
· Good oral communication and presentation skills
· Possess the ability to work with cross-departmental teams and have integrity and confidentiality.
· Age: 30- 45 years
