StrongMinds is an international social enterprise that focuses on one of the most underserved populations and one of the most pervasive mental illnesses in the world. We treat depression among women in Africa, where access for mental health treatment is extremely limited. We presently operate in Uganda, a post-conflict and highly impoverished country where 1 out of every 4 adults suffers from depression. As the only organization with a model specifically designed to scale a solution for depression in Africa, we provide a simple, innovative and cost effective approach. Group interpersonal psychotherapy, facilitated by trained community workers, is a proven technique which helps these depressed women return to and maintain their full mental health. Ultimately, StrongMinds helps women who suffer from depression to turn around their lives, and those of their family.

Job Summary: The Program Manager consultant will support StrongMinds launch a new group psychotherapy project in Uganda which recently received funding. The consultant will work with the StrongMinds Executive Director and Uganda team to develop a complete project implementation plan, to include budget, milestones and Gantt chart, for the first year of the program. This will require a field visit to Kampala, Uganda if the consultant is not already located in that location. The Program Manager consultant’s deliverable will likely require 4 full time weeks of work, with a preferred start date of mid-September. We offer competitive compensation. After completion of the above deliverable, there is an additional opportunity for this consultant to provide ongoing Program Management of the project during the one-year implementation period, on either a full or part-time basis.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should have at least eight years’ experience implementing public health programs in Africa, with a focus on community based treatment services.
· Excellent writing and project planning/management skills
· Proven ability to communicate with peers.
· Demonstrated ability to work well with teams, and to collaboratively include all team members in project planning work.
· The consultant must be a big picture thinker who is able to also determine the details required to ensure this project is successful.
