DanChurchAid (DCA) is a faith-based Danish INGO working closely wiih church-based as well as secular NGOs in Uganda. DanChurchAid has supported emergency relief and development programmes in Uganda – including Karamoja, since 1979. DanChurchAid works with partner organisations through a gender-inclusive rights-based approach.

Job Summary: The Programme Officer – Active Citizenship will be esponsible for the management, coordination and development of the Active Citizenship Programme. This includes collaborating with all partner organisations, quality assuring and monitoring partners’ projects within the programme. The incumbent is also responsible for fostering and strengthening partnerships and providing capacity building of partner organisations. The Active Citizenship programme is currently consisting of eight projects and partners.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for programme management, including planning, approval, execution, monitoring and evaluation.
In charge of the collaboration, monitoring and capacity building of partner organisations.
Actively contribute to fundraising for the programme.
Financial programme budget monitoring and accountability.
Ensure timely reporting.
Responsible for coordination and networking.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The incumbent should preferably hold a Master’s degree in a field relevant to the position
Five or more years’ experience working with active citizenship, good governance, advocacy, accountability, anti-corruption, electoral democracy and participation.
Past exposure and experience in working with and building organizational and technical capacity of partner organisations.
Demonstrated experience in project cycle management, mainstreaming gender equality, applying rights-based approach and promoting accountability mechanisms.
Excellent analytical skills and capacity for strategic planning.
Proven capacity to prioritize tasks, plan and organize own and partners’ efforts to meet objectives and deadlines.
Be patient, flexible, pro-active, self-motivated and able to work independently.
Working knowledge of Karamoja and Teso regions and languages an advantage.
