Project Coordinator – Schools Community Approaches – Kamuli – Plan International

Job Summary: The Project Coordinator will support the four year schools Schools Community Approaches for Transforming Gender Relations in Uganda project in Kamuli to ensure effective leadership in the coordination and overall delivery. The incumbent will also steer the project in planning, implementation, partnership management and reporting. The job holder will be responsible for the timely implementation of project activities, and reporting with the highest technical quality in accordance with the objectives and approach in the project document and to the satisfaction of the project stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· In charge of preparing detailed and comprehensive annual and quarterly implementation plans and budgets.
· Developing clear project monitoring and evaluation frame work.
· Provide technical leadership and quality assurance in the design and delivery of technical assistance and capacity building for partner CBO.
· Attend various meetings and trainings (e.g. national, regional, school administrative) for the purpose of advancing the integration of the program.
· Work closely with all partners regarding implementation of and coordination of services (e.g District staff, students, parents, community organisations and participants) for the purpose of meeting project goals and objectives.
· Prepare and submit quality project reports as per donor requirements and the project monitoring and evaluation plan.
· Ensure all project documentation is filed and organized for accountability purposes.
· Ensure project achievements and lessons are documented and disseminated widely.
· Coordinate and monitor partnerships with partner organisations to ensure efficient utilization and timely accountability of funds allocated.
· Manage project resources efficiently and effectively in accordance with Plan International Uganda policies and guidelines.
· The incumbent will manage the project budget for the purpose of ensuring compliance with financial project goals and objectives and donor grant requirements.
· Organize regular performance review meetings to assess progress and agree on and communicate any changes in strategy with the key project stakeholders.
· Ensure adequate stakeholder consultation and participation at all stages of the project cycle.
· Ensure Plan Internationals child protection policy and guidelines are adhered to in the project implementation.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should hold a good Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Education, gender studies, Social Work, Law, Human Rights or its equivalent.
· A minimum of five years’ experience in coordinating schools based / education projects with technical expertise in gender in Uganda.
· Prior experience working collaboratively with Community Organisations, schools and community agencies.
· Past exposure and experience in advocacy and civil society strengthening is preferred.
· Excellent Project Management and team leadership skills.
· Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records using pertinent software applications.
· Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
· Ability to communicate in a way that is appropriate to different audiences.
· Computer literacy skills in MS Office and internet.
· Data collection, analysis and electronic data management skills
· Working knowledge of child protection issues, girls rights and gender equality programming.
· Proven abilities in effective planning, budgeting and reporting.
· Working knowledge of community and school score cards would be an advantage.
· Seen as a source of expertise in his or her field.
· Establishes effective partnerships with external organisations.
· Coaches project partner staff.
· Understands and appreciates Plan International Uganda’s vision and behaves strategically.
· Excellent communication skills both in written English and verbally.
