Northern Karamoja Project Manager
Whave is a Ugandan social enterprise working with communities, government, and civil society organisations to find and demonstrate solutions to poverty and environmental issues. Our team includes both local and international experts with professional capabilities ranging from engineering to social science.

We are currently seeking candidates to fill the role of Project Manager for our Safe Water Security Programme in Northern Karamoja. The programme develops a self-sustaining rural water service through a localized results-based financing and public-private partnership. Our approach includes rehabilitation of water sources, regular monitoring through a comprehensive set of indicators, operation and maintenance services for reliability assurance and hygiene and sanitation promotion. The aim is to improve health and productivity of local communities through a reliable supply of clean water and improved hygiene.

Job Description
The Project Manager will be based in Northern Karamoja either in Kaabong or Kotido. The post holder will have responsibility to manage the Karamoja field office staff and contractors, and will report to the Whave General Manager in Kampala. The role will require development and implementation of Whave Karamoja Safe Water Security Programme. This will include:
• Developing work plans, strategy and materials to deliver Whave’s objectives and targets
• Management/recruitment of field and administrative staff and monitoring and engineering contractors
• Oversight of Whave’s fixed assets, financial and administrative oversight of the field office
• Co-ordination/liaison with local government officials and other civil society organisations
• Data management and analysis; regular communication with the General Manager in Kampala
• Preparation and communication of high quality presentations and information materials

Skills and requirements
Successful applicants must have adequate skills and experience suitable for the tasks described above, including:
• High level communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in programme design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, report writing
• Experience living and working in remote areas
• Excellent organisational skills
• At least two years staff management experience
• Degree level education ideally in a scientific or engineering subject
• Experience and understanding of community development
• Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Excel and Word

Working hours and conditions will be standard, with scope for flexibility to suit individual circumstances
Remuneration will be on a negotiation basis, depending on your skills and experience.
