Straight Talk Foundation is an indigenous health communications NGO operating nationally in Uganda through the provision of quality behaviour change programs. Straight Talk Foundation (STF) is a Ugandan health communication NGO registered in 1997. STF exists to empower adolescents and adults to achieve lives of dignity by triggering and driving authentic dialogue that leads to reflection, problem solving and concrete action for greater sexual, economic and environmental well being.
Job Summary: The Project Officer will be responsible for providing information to individuals with psychosocial problems so that they can make informed decisions on how to cope with their challenges in Kaabong.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Formulate and implement strategies and programmes for mobilizing, sensitizing and working with communities.
Actively engage youth in programme development, implementation and evaluation.
Develop and facilitate training programmes for children, youth and adults.
Provide counseling for clients in different socio-economic settings.
Tasked with networking and partnering with other organizations.
Communicating effectively with different stakeholders.
Report writing.
Perform any other duty as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Diploma in Social Work and Social Administration or any relevant qualifications with additional training in HIV&AIDS counseling, as well as provision of youth friendly services.
One year of working experience in project implementation especially in a rural setting.
Computer literacy skills especially MS office applications.
Ability to utilize different computer packages for radio communications.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to apply analytical techniques for reporting communication activities.
Knowledge of contemporary issues in community development.
Ability to work under minimum pressure.
Ability to build rapport with the public with diplomacy, discretion, and customer-service orientation.
Proven ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw logical conclusions.
Be sensitive to cultural differences among individuals and groups of persons.
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Computer literacy for radio communications and excellent documentation skills are a must.
Demonstrated ability to ride a motorcycle.
