Rakai Health Sciences Program is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery organization. It strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community based research, curative services and prevention strategies in the District of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai District.
About CDC Program:
With funding from PEPFAR/ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), RHSP is implementing a 5 year comprehensive HIV/ AIDS program in the 12 districts of Masaka region namely; Rakai, Kyotera, Masaka, Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Lyantonde, Lwengo, Sembabule, Butambala, Gomba, Mpigi, and Kalangala with an aim of achieving rapid HIV epidemic control.
Job Summary: The Public Relations Manager will manage the public relations, corporate communication and social responsibility activities of the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop annual public relations work plan and coordinate implementation in line with the approved budget.
Organize press briefs, conferences, news releases to provide information to the general public and the bank’s key stakeholders.
Undertake media relations management whilst ensuring accurate information sharing between providing timely responses to requests.
Plan monitor and coordinate implementation of the social responsibility framework.
Champion strategies to strengthen engagement between the Organization and its key stakeholders including donors, implementing agencies, clients and the communities where we work.
Create publicity to promote the Organization’s corporate image by proactively putting in place strategies, platforms and events that ensure broad positive visibility.
Plan and Coordinate organization public events i.e. Conferences, stakeholder meetings, Exhibitions, Focus group discussions, networking events.
Edit and publish periodic organization and staff news bulletins
Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor in respect to the role.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Public Relations Manager job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or related Degree from a recognized institution. Post graduate qualifications added advantage
At least four years’ experience in public relations management at a supervisory level including not limited to media production, events management as well as Editorial experience in writing articles and press releases
Good understanding of current trends for a competitive marketing mix
Ability to apply advanced research tools and techniques
Excellent Report writing, customer service and people management skills
Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude
First experience in public relations and event management·
Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexity
Proven editorial experience especially in press releases and writing articles.
