Our client Smile Communications (U) Ltd is a leading ISP in Uganda offering 4G LTE super-fast, high quality and reliable internet access services.
Smile Communications is looking for an experienced, talented and committed individual to join their team of highly dedicated professionals. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager – Marketing.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This role will be responsible for managing support functions essential to marketing which include the implementation, building and maintaining of integrated Public relations using a wide range of media to enrich the Company’s reputation within the public eye.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Plan, Organize and Implement PR campaigns as per OPCO marketing strategies to achieve significant increase in the OPCO’s brand awareness
Maintain a favorable public image for the OPCO by writing and producing press releases, thought leadership articles, reports and presentations with the Senior Manager-Marketing and the group and local agencies as appropriate
Pitch and distribute OPCO approved communication to relevant and targeted media both national and local to achieve the highest visibility in print, broadcast, TV and online
Cultivate relationships with key business journalists in national and trade publications
Proactively manage PR editorial and event calendars
Plan and organize marketing PR events in liaison with Marketing Operations that will include but not limited to; press conferences, interviews, trade shows, CSR, exhibitions, event activations, open days and press visits
Source and manage speaking and sponsorship opportunities for the OPCO that will foster community relations through involvement in community initiatives
Manage the PR aspect of any potential crisis situation in line with the Senior Manager-Marketing
Collate and analyze media coverage on ROI comparing marketing spend versus PR value achieved
Any other ad hoc duties assigned to you from time to time by the Senior Manager-Marketing or any other person appointed by the Company for this purpose
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Business Administration, Mass Communication, Marketing or Public Relations – essential
CIM as an added advantage
WORK EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
2 years’ experience in Public Relations and event management
Experience in a telecom/ISP is an added advantage
