Quality Improvement Officer – Makerere University Joint AIDS Program

About US:
Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) is a private-not-for profit Company under Makerere University. MJAP works to build partnerships and strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB and other diseases of public health importance in Africa.

About Project:
MJAP will work in close collaboration with the Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) to implement a program on Accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control in Masaka region (Gomba, Butambala, Sembabule and Mpigi districts). In addition, MJAP is anticipating a sub-award grant for accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control in Kampala region; under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coach/Train District QI teams on QI methods to reflect performance vis a vis the targets.
Offer support to participating districts to conduct regular performance evaluation and supportive supervision of facilities following standard procedures.
Coordinate regular review meetings on QI and learning sessions on QI.
Ensure presence of functional QI teams at district and facility levels
Support the DHT in training and mentorship of staff on service guidelines and standard operating procedures
Assist the DHT to conduct regular data review meetings at the district and facility levels
Support the DHT to conduct regular performance evaluation and supportive supervision of facilities following standard procedures

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) Quality Improvement Officer should preferably hold a Master’s degree in Public Health or related discipline
Bachelors’ degree in Medicine, Health Services Management or Statistics
A minimum of three years’ experience in QI activities in donor funded programs
Broad knowledge of MoH and National M&E and quality improvement frameworks.• Understanding of Local Government Structures
Previous experience with QI tools, (HMIS, OpenMRS, DHIS2 or HIBRID Information Systems)
Knowledge of MER 2.1 PEPFAR indicators will be an additional advantage ;
Mentoring and coaching skills
Good team leader
Willingness to work in a rural area, under minimal supervision
Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
