Job Summary: The Remuneration & Benefits Manager serves as a strategic human resources leader and will be responsible for the design, implementation and communication of the Fund’s Total Rewards Strategy. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring all of our reward programs, including Benefits, Compensation, and HRIS systems are competitive, sustainable, scalable, and have an impact on the long and short term performance of the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides strategic and operational leadership in the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of our Total Rewards programs including health, welfare, wellness, retirement, base pay, incentives, and other rewards and perquisites.
The incumbent develops Total Rewards philosophy and supporting policies and practices.
Partners with Heads of Departments and Human Resource Business Partners to leverage compensation and benefits programs to meet organizational objectives.
Regularly analyzes current rewards programs to ensure they align with our business strategy and ensures that our rewards programs optimize our ability to attract top talent.
Keenly analyzes the market competitiveness and cost-effectiveness of our compensation and benefit plans to ensure they optimize our ability to attract and retain top talent.
Manages the development and management of our HRIS systems to enhance our HR reporting/analytics capabilities.
Maintains current knowledge of related government rules and regulations, including the Worker’s Compensation, and other applicable Labor and/or Tax laws and regulations; fulfills compliance and reporting requirements.
Oversee the management of our benefits vendor relationships and benefits contracts
Oversee the design and administration of compensation programs including base pay, variable pay, merit, compensation planning, and market analysis with a focus on continuous improvement
Provide supervision and training of direct reports.
Supervises the in-house administration activities of the staff provident fund. Coordinate all administrative activities with regards to the provident fund. This includes organising for trustee meetings, processing SPF payments for exiting staff and ensuring timely distribution of member statements.
Works closely with line managers and staff to ensure that performance contracts are uploaded on the system at the beginning of the appraisal period and formal performance appraisals are done every six months;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the NSSF Remuneration & Benefits Manager job placement must hold a Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Finance or related fields,
Possession of a postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Finance or Other related fields.
Membership of an HR Professional Body is an added advantage
A minimum of five years of post-qualification experience gained in a similar role in a busy HR environment.
At least five years’ experience in designing and implementing Total Rewards Programs (Compensation, Benefits, HRIS systems).
At least three years of people management experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of benefits programs (Health, Welfare, etc) and experience working with/ managing external vendors.
Previous exposure and experience in developing and/or managing executive compensation plans strongly preferred.
Good track record of success in developing and implementing successful and creative compensation programs.
Strong technical, managerial, and team building skills with the ability to balance tactical and strategic responsibilities.
Demonstrated ability to influence and present to the Executive Committee and the Board.
Previous experience of carrying out salary reviews and surveys
Experience of job evaluation schemes
Excellent relationship and project management skills
Experience of using HR databases and other IT systems
Strong numerical and advanced analytical and Excel skills
Keen attention to detail
Ability to work effectively with teams and senior mangers
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both oral and written
Excellent influencing skills and credibility at senior level
Self-Starter
Ability to work under pressure and prioritize own work as well as that work of others
High level IT skills using MS Office i.e. Word, Power point and Outlook
