About GIZ EnDev:
Energising Development (EnDev) is a global multi-donor partnership implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) that facilitates access to modern energy services in 24 countries worldwide. In Uganda, EnDev, under the Promotion of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (PREEEP) cooperates closely with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD). EnDev Uganda facilitates access to modern energy services through market development with the private sector for improved cook stoves (ICS) and solar PV products. In its ICS programme component, EnDev Uganda supports Ugandan ICS companies to increase their production capacity, improve their product and service quality as well as competitiveness and marketability.

Job Summary: The Senior Biomass Energy Coordinator will be in charge of the design, implementation, coordination of project activities in regard to ICS partner companies and market development as well as their monitoring and evaluation. The incumbent will ensure regular interaction and coordination with MEMD and relevant sector institutions. The jobholder will also be supporting the supervisor in his management and technical tasks

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
ICS Market Development:
Initiation and preparation of strategic partnerships in the Ugandan ICS sector
Joint development of concepts and business plans with ICS partner companies
Tasked with the preparation, processing and management of ICS partner company and consultancy contracts
Provision of technical guidance to ICS partner companies in regard to the successful implementation of partnerships as well as business development
Regular monitoring and coordination visits to EnDev Uganda’s regional offices and project areas
Partner engagement through regular communication, meetings, field visits etc.
Further strategic development of the EnDev Uganda ICS market development approach exhibitions and workshops
Knowledge management and M&E
Updates the head of project and the project team regularly on the progress of ongoing and planned ICS related activities and other new developments in the ICS sector
Offers support in communication, compilation of up to date information on project activities as well as the documentation of lessons learnt and approaches
Drafts reports and assists partners in reporting
Steers the monitoring and verification process for ICS market development activities

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate must hold a Master’s degree in business administration, business management, entrepreneurship, development studies or other related fields. Relevant postgraduate qualifications are an added advantage
At least five years of professional working experience in a similar position in the energy sector, including at three years of active engagement with the private sector
Broad knowledge and understanding of the Ugandan ICS sector and its trends
Experiences in business development support and technical guidance for SMEs
Previous experience in working independently and result oriented
Prior exposure and experience in staff and consultant coordination
Previous exposure and experience in coordinating and steering multiple tasks and processes under tight deadlines
Prior experience in project management and coordination of contract work
Prior working experience with GIZ preferably or a similar organisation is an added advantage
Excellent communication skills, both orally and written
Exceptional presentation skills
Excellent English language skills
Computer literacy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Very good practical and theoretical knowledge of data analysis and compilation
Willingness to continuous learning
Fluent Luganda skills are an added advantage
