Tropical Bank Limited was established in 1973 under the name Libyan Arab Uganda Bank for Foreign Trade and Development. Tropical Bank Limited is jointly owned by the Governments of the Republic of Uganda 0.03% and the Libyan Foreign Bank (LFB) 99.97% of Paid-up Capital. The Bank provides professional and personalized commercial banking services to various sectors of the economy including financial support to Parastatals, Corporates, Small and Medium Enterprises, Individuals, and Non-Governmental Organisations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Strategy, Research and Innovation:
· Oversee the preparation of periodic strategic plans that respond to the noted opportunities and challenges and manage the annual business planning process, ensuring that the business plans link into and support the longer term plans.
· Keenly monitor departmental performance against the strategic plan, clearly identifying performance gaps and supporting management team members to put in place plans to address gaps.
· Gather relevant economic and market intelligence data on the banking industry internally and within the region.
· Oversee the bank’s regional expansion and new markets, strategic marketing partnerships and banking alliances.
· Work closely with the marketing teams to identify and segment the target market of the bank and ensure that appropriate products are developed for each of these segments.
· Steer the innovation team in designing winning solutions to meet ever growing and changing customer needs in target markets.
· Draw strategies for entry and participation in strategic sectors with strong economic growth prospects like Oil, Agro-Business, etc.
· Implementing strategies, international Marketing relationships and measuring performance which culminates into value for money across the company.
· Develop policies and procedures for effective Marketing programs and strategies so as to achieve the company’s financial expectations recognition, loyalty and preference.
· In charge of the management of brand and product research, customer service surveys and any other related survey.
2. Marketing:
· In charge of the translation of Bank’s strategic plan into annual marketing strategy that will result in enhanced brand and corporate image as well as customer service delivery.
· Implementation and control of ensuing strategic plans that include: Product Strategy, Business Stream Support, Internal and external communications, and Customer Service
· Manage the Marketing Department to be within Budget to realize saving
3. Product Development:
· Responsible for the implementation of product marketing plans which will result in high level of internal preparedness for new products and improve performance of existing products. This includes staff presentations on new initiatives, ensuring that branches have relevant product marketing materials.
· Implementation of go-to-market strategies for target market segments that will result in quantifiable business support initiatives. The programs should result in higher sales, and overall achievement of targets.
· Prepare and submit quarterly competitor reports in close liaison with Quality Assurance Officer that should result in a better understanding of their strategies and our subsequent response.
· Coordinating the launching of new products to ensure a wider range of products is offered to customers, thereby resulting into increased sales.
· Continually conduct product appraisals on existing and new products with the aim of reviewing performance of each product. This then helps us promote the poorly performing products, which will result into increased sales.
· Coordinate training/ presentations across the branch network on new products/ key product changes, this then will result into improved awareness I knowledge of Tropical Bank Limited products to all staff.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate should preferably hold a master’s degree or professional qualification e.g. FCIB, ACCA, CFA
· A minimum of ten years’ experience in a commercial environment with five years at a senior management level in the banking industry and 3 years as a head of department.
· Significant experience in Strategy Formulation and Implementation is critical
· Strong networking and negotiation skills.
· Team management is key to the role and the candidate must have experience of developing team objectives and ensuring team direction
· Effective interpersonal communication with proven ability to function well in a multi-disciplinary team setting
