About Project:
Child Fund Uganda has won an award on the Deinstitutionalization of Orphans and Vulnerable Children, The key goals of the project are to strengthen national child protection systems in order to prevent unnecessary family separation and enable children outside of families to be placed in family or family based care.

Job Summary: The jobholder mainly offers a comprehensive social work service to children and families in need in partnership with children and families.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for training and providing guidance to social welfare front line workers, CSO partners, care givers and community members and other service providers on child care and protection, Prevention, Tracing and resettlement/ reintegration of children from children’s institutions and the streets, and disaffiliated children; fostering and adoption.
• In charge of quality assurance of social work practice on alternative care at all levels of implementation
• Responsible for the mentorship and supervision of other practitioners at different levels to ensure effective and efficient Case Management
• Monitoring of Child Care Institutions and other partners in implementation of Alternative Care Framework
• Support the establishment and operation of District Alternative Care Panels
• Support other practitioners including CCI SWs, parasocial workers and CDOs in assessment of families and monitoring of families
• Support the establishment and operation of Team Around The Child (TAC) at the district
• Disseminate OVC /child protection resource materials, guidelines and policies
• Work closely with the probation officers, provide Technical support to Child Care Institutions to acquire various court orders – production orders, care orders, exclusion orders.
• To liaise effectively with other agencies and, where appropriate to be involved in multi-disciplinary work.
• To work on own initiative, managing and prioritizing own workload under the direction of the supervisor.
• Collect and analyse basic information required-far planning, monitoring, Project implementation and prepare periodic progress reports

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration only
• Working knowledge of child development, Child Protection, Policy on Vulnerable and Orphan Children, UN convention on the Rights of a Child The Children Act and other relevant legal and policy frameworks
• Pre-qualification experience with children (whether paid or voluntary)
• Past experience of community and multidisciplinary work
• Prior experience in using computer applications (word processing,excel, database, internet
• Assessment skills-ability to demonstrate understanding of process
• Working in partnership
• Written Communication and Recording Skills – ability to analyse, summarise and record relevant information clearly and concisely so that the information can easily understood by colleagues and family members
• Anti-discriminatory practice – have a clear understanding of the ways in which people are discriminated against and to be committed to work in a way that addresses issues
• Ability to manage a workload.
• Ability to support colleagues.
