Job Description:
Position Summary: Grameen Foundation seeks a Senior Technical Lead – Financial Inclusion for a proposed USAID integrated agriculture and nutrition activity in Uganda to sustainably enhance the resilience of vulnerable households by increasing economic opportunities for poor households, improving nutrition with a focus on women and children, and strengthening community and local governance. This multi-year program will involve working closely with Ugandan private and public sector entities as well as local organizations to improve financial services usage and increase access to finance by vulnerable households.
Technical Responsibilities:
● Provide leadership and oversight for financial inclusion activities, and ensure close coordination with other program components including agriculture, nutrition and gender by regularly interacting with the key personnel for the project. .
● Ensure timely delivery of project’s deliverables and achievement of project objectives;
● Identify new resources, methodologies and partnerships, to leverage and advance the project;
● Establish and develop positive relationship with the Government of Uganda, Ugandan financial institutions and private sector entities;
● Ensure the preparation of high-quality donor reports, effective marketing and public materials for financial inclusion;
Management Responsibilities:
● Manage all project activities under financial inclusion and serve as lead technical expert
● Work on partner development with a range of stakeholders especially financial service providers
● Provide input to the M&E and PMP functions as needed, including knowledge management system (KMS) and all reporting requirements.
● Work with overall project team to manage project, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities.
● Work on incorporating learnings into workplan revisions
Skills and requirements:
● Master’s degree in business, finance, international development, or other relevant technical field; MBA strongly preferred.
● Minimum 8 years of relevant technical experience in financial inclusion, VSLAs, gender, microfinance, digital finance, emerging markets, private sector investment, development finance, local capital market development, investment facilitation and promotion, etc.;
● Experience working in emerging markets required, experience in Uganda preferred;
● Progressively responsible experience working on complex projects required. Experience with USAID – funded projects strongly preferred;
● Superior interpersonal and diplomatic skills, with ability to work with a variety of counterparts;
● Demonstrated leadership, adaptability, and integrity;
