Tax Manager – Hima Cement Ltd.

Job Summary:
The primary role of the Tax Manager is to support the Finance Director (FD) in the overall management of companywide Tax Risk. Additionally, the Tax Manager, in his/her capacity as the company’s liaison officer on tax matters will be required to support the roll out of global tax strategies, guarantee local tax compliance and enforcement of internal controls related to taxation across the organisation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead the annual/bi-annual tax risk management process i.e. from risk assessment through to implementation of mitigating actions, while certifying FD involvement and timely sign off.
· Keep abreast with local tax legislation developments and global best practices for timely adoption by the Company.
· Maintain a cordial relationship with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate execution of work. Including but not limited to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), LafargeHolcim regional Tax Officers, and other internal departments.
· Ensure timely preparation, sign off and filing of all tax returns with the local tax authorities, while ensuring consistency with local accounting and statutory records.
· Ensure proper cataloguing and storage of all tax relevant records as per country and group requirements.
· Preparation of board papers as may be deemed necessary from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant for the Hima Cement Tax Manager job opportunity should hold a Bachelors of Honors Degree in a business discipline related qualification from a recognized University.
· Postgraduate qualifications in ACCA or CPA or equivalent, specialising in tax is an additional requirement.
· At least five years’ work experience preferably in a busy commercial environment and with good exposure in other business processes.
· Additional Training in Tax management and Administration is an added advantage
· Strong knowledge of local tax regulations
· Strong knowledge in SAP mainly FI/CO modules
· Self-driven, results oriented.
· Able to plan and prioritise
· Comfortable dealing with people and a good listener
· Reliable, tolerant & determined
· Able to work extended hours when required
· Flexibility to work anywhere within Uganda is added advantage
