Job Summary: The Technical Advisor – Documentation will provide support grantees to extract learning, share and use it to improve practice in programs for prevention of violence against children. The Technical Advisor will ensure that all project documents are of excellent technical quality and contribute significantly to national, regional and global learning.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Advisor will develop a learning strategy with each grantee and across grantees which gives more concentration to grantees’ role in learning process and evaluates the impact of using learning to improve practice.
Set cross-grantee learning strategy
Support grantees document learning for first convening, and synthesise findings for large audience convening
Help grantees build learning on first convening outputs
Support the import of knowledge about social norms, prevention, resilience, community-based protection systems to the grantees; and the expert of lessons learned to wider stakeholders
The Technical Advisor will report to the Executive Director of the client organisation and will be expected to network and share learning with grantees as well as the Project Advisory Committee.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Mass Communication and a degree/post graduate diploma in child rights or any relevant field.
A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role with a bi-lateral, multi -lateral organisation, Government or NGO.
The Technical Advisor must be knowledgeable about current research on violence against children and should be skilled in applying the research findings to learning about a variety of VAC conditions.
Excellent writing/editing skills with the ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner.
Good working knowledge of print layout/design and web design
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Broad knowledge and understanding of the East African and global Child Rights context.
Previous experience in using storytelling in knowledge management
Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Ability to work as part of a team and in partnership with other stakeholders
Ability to work independently
Fluency in English, both verbal and written
