Job Summary: The Technical Operations Manager will take daily operational ownership of the technical department, continuously improving end to end service performance and managing key internal and external stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Consulting with Management and other team members, analysing requirements, investigating options, providing advice on technical developments and benefits to be derived from them and aligning business requirements with strategic priorities and directions;
Collaborate closely with the team to plan, estimate, coordinate and manage major internal initiatives and customer projects.
In charge of the development, implementation and documentation of operating policies, methods, processes and training programs with the goal of improving service to customers.
Technically support the development of a clear technical strategy for the business
Undertaking day-to-day management, maintenance and support services across the companies POPs (Points of Presence), to ensure the technical infrastructure is maintained at peak operational level, highly available, robust and secure;
Identifying and managing infrastructure upgrades and their installation and maintenance (including telecommunication, software, hardware) and this be planned to minimise disruption to existing services as much as possible;
Providing recommendations for replacement/upgrading of technical assets and linking such needs to the budget process and purchase policy within the organisation;
Taking responsibility for escalation and resolution of reported incidents and service requests within scope as per customer service level agreements
Assessing projects technical requirements so as to effectively plan for rollout.
Conferring with Management and participating in selection of technical kit, vendors and contractors to provide the highest quality of service as per business requirements.
Providing focused leadership, management, coaching and mentoring to staff including effectively driving planning and undertaking regular performance reviews and ensuring that a culture of high level customer service and ongoing development of efficient work practices, is embedded across the team;
Provide technical leadership and direction in the training and orientation of existing and new team members
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should hold a University degree (BSc) Computer Science or Telecommunications Engineering from a recognized university;
Professional CCNP / CCIP / JNCIE Certification or equivalent from a recognised institution
At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the telecommunications field including networking
Supervisory experience and managing teams
Project management skills
Prior experience with transmission technologies, microwave and fibre optic
Experience in strategic planning, development and implementation
Previous experience in enduser support
Computer literacy skills i.e. proficient with Project Excel, Visio and MS office
Leadership and management skills
Motivating and managing team performance
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Fluent in French
Project management / supervisor skills
Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills;
Attention to detail and multitasking ability;
Result- and team-oriented, honest and of high integrity; and
Able to work with minimum supervision.
