Training and Development Specialist – World Education Inc – Jinja

World Education Inc. /Bantwana (WEI/B) is a Non-Governmental Organization that helps families and children orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS to access the comprehensive support and care they need to grow into healthy adults.

Job Summary: The Training and Development Specialist will oversee the Training component of the AYEDI project working with AYEDI project staff and partners to design materials and support capacity building specialists in designing and curing out trainings for all AYEDI implementing partners. The incumbent will provide technical leadership in the development and roll out of the Integrated FAL pathway for youth and will work closely with the ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development to revise and pilot the integrated FAL program for youth in the project districts

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Development of Operational plans and tools:
· Work with key stakeholders to develop AYEDI project training and operational plan
· Work with education and other capacity building specialists to develop project materials

Monitoring & Evaluation:
· Coordinate the mobilization of pre-baseline data in Iganga and Bugiri districts
· Under the direction of the AYEDI M&E Specialist, support the project baseline data collection exercise and implementation of the comprehensive monitoring and evaluation plan (CMEP)
· Utilize M&E reports to revise and improve on project activities
· Provide monthly and quarterly project reports

Technical and support supervision:
· Actively participate in development of tools and curriculum for youth empowerment clubs and integrated FAL program for youth
· Work closely with the Education specialist, spearhead the professional training and support supervision of teachers, tutors, vocational trainers as well as club patrons and matrons Support implementing partners to develop and roll out training tools
· Compile production of reports of user feedback on training guides for use to influence the development and production of instructional materials
· Provide technical support for all club activities

Project Monitoring and Documentation (25%)
· Work in liaison with the program, M&E and finance teams, develop a systematic plan for program monitoring and support supervision to schools, communities, districts, partners and activity locations to monitor implementation.
· Work closely with the M&E team in tracking and reporting related targets
· Develop monthly/quarterly/annual reports detailing periodic activities and outcomes.

Partnerships:
· Work closely with the Bantwana Eastern office team to leverage Bantwana’s long term relationship with communities, local councils, health, education and child protection stakeholders
· Work with districts, sub-counties and LCs and CLCs to ensure timely implementation of project activities
· Support the selection and development of MOUs with key stakeholders In the privet sector and at national, district and community level (including participating youth clubs and structures)
· Work closely with the private sector to ensure success of IFLY
Evidence based advocacy and policy development: Document best practices and success stories under key result areas and make in puts in strengthening relevant education policies and publishing guidelines
Regional Manager Roles:
· Develop work plans for the region
· Offer leadership to the field staff
· Conduct regular mentorship to the staff
· Support field activity budget review and financial performance
· Represent the organisation at district level
· Develop coordination mechanism with key stakeholders
· Support report writing for the project

Key Performance Indicators:
· Monthly report to the AYEDI program director five days after the end of each month
· Any other tasks as may be assigned by the AYEDI program director.
· Ability to work effectively in collaboration with divers stakeholder
· Compile technical progress reports

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The Training and Development Specialist should preferably hold a Master’s degree in community development studies, administration, social sciences or related field
· A minimum of six years of increasingly responsible experience in youth work and vocational program
· Significant exposure and experience in community work with a reputable NGO
· Ability to train and develop capacity of project staff and other AYEDI implementing partner staff
· Experience working with out of school youth as well as in school youth
· Substantial experience, curriculum planning, development and design
· Sound project management background
· Previous experience in community approaches Communication and motivation techniques
· Experience in research
· Ability to prepare timely quality financial and activity reports for organisational use
· Previous experience in managing community development projects with international NGOs Excellent writing skills
· Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate in both the local and National languages
· Computer skills with expertise in power point, word, excel and outlook
· A confident self-starter who displays initiative, creativity and strategic thinking in all aspects of project development
· Ability to regular and flexibly travel between districts and designated project unities
