Transport and Logistics Assistant – Entebbe – National Medical Stores

National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities in Uganda.

Job Summary: The Transport and Logistics Assistant will manage fleet deployment, repairs and maintenance and to supervise drivers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Carry out routine monthly service for corporation vehicles
· Keenly inspect vehicles before and after use and undertake minor repairs in line with NMS procedures
· In charge of preparing National Medical Stores vehicle repair orders and spot check vehicles repair progress from garages or and spot check the vehicle working conditions in line with NMS set guidelines
· Follow up NMS vehicle registration, licensing and motor vehicle as per NMS set guidelines
· In charge of preparing budgets, for fuel and other logistics per vehicle as per NMS set guidelines
· To prepare supervise and allocate duties to drivers/Dispatch Assistant as per sectional activity schedule
· Oversee the timely and efficient loading of supplies from the dispatch ware house in line with the set departmental guidelines
· Develop daily, weekly monthly annual maintenance plans
· To arrange equipment (e.g. Spare, tools and materials) in collaboration with stores
· To control maintenance activities-periodic checks, standard engineering practices, root cause analysis and corrective action
· Make sure there if proper maintenance and repair of vehicles and warehouse
· Trouble shoot and identify faults within the vehicles and ware house equipment
· Carry out regular general checks of vehicles and recommend to the garages for specific repairs to be made.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate should at least hold an Ordinary Diploma in mechanical Engineering.
· At least two years’ experience in fleet management and motor vehicle Mechanic repairs.
· Hold a Certificate in Supervisory Management.
· Computer literacy skills
