About USAID LTFP Programme:
Marie Stopes International Uganda (MSI Uganda) is currently the lead partner in implementing the USAID Long Term Family Planning Methods (LTFP) Programme. The LTFP Programme expands affordable services and choice of the full range of contraceptive choice to rural and underserved communities through a dynamic mix of mobile clinical outreach, social franchising and community based distribution. In partnership with the Ministry of Health, this programme supports the long term capacity of public and private sector providers to deliver high quality FP counselling and services.
Job Summary: The Youth Community Engagement Officer will provide coordination and support of community awareness activities for the MSIU youth and key population programming. In particular, the Youth Community Engagement Officer will coordinate community awareness activities and mentor peer educators supporting MSIU youth program interventions. The incumbent will also work towards building partnerships with community networks and youth groups in order to enhance awareness of MSIU youth interventions and leverage capacity and linkages for contraception and reproductive health intervention uptake among youth
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should hold a Degree/Advanced diploma in Public Health, Community Development, Social Work and Social Administration, or Social Sciences.
A minimum of two years’ experience working with underserved/hard-to-reach communities.
Previous experience working with youth/key population programs is an added advantage.
Proven ability to communicate to people of different backgrounds about Contraception and reproductive health issues
Highly organised and detail oriented.
Proven experience coordinating activities that involve multiple people in or from multiple locations.
Ability to work well with others in team environments, build consensus and drive change
Ability to work in deadline-driven environment with competing deadlines
Highly organised and able to multi-task
