About JCRC:
Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is a national Ugandan organization that was established in 1991 as a medical institution and HIV AIDS Centre of Excellence specializing in medical research, health care and training.
Job Summary: The Director Clinical Services will be responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of activities in the clinical section of JCRC. The incumbent is also required to ensure that health workers have access to and trained on updated medical information. He/she will work closely with the Business Development Manager, other health sectors and senior management to identify strategies for strengthening clinical services both in quality and as one of the major sources for income generation for purposes of moving JCRC forward as a self-sustaining entity.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Steer the strategic thinking process for diversification of clinical services
Actively coordinate all units within the clinical department of JCRC that are directly concerned within the care of patients attending the JCRC
Ensure smooth running of the inpatient and the general outpatient and private clinics of JCRC.
Provide advanced care and consultations for patients.
Actively participate in the development of Strategic and Departmental work plans.
Provide leadership in supporting the organizational strategic plan in implementing activities in the department.
Prepare and coordinate submission of reports as required by the organisation and partners.
Take part in clinical research and supervise assigned research team.
Lead doctors’ forum meetings and organize continuing medical education for staff.
Provide and oversee on-site training for health care providers in-house and other partners.
Assess and determine optimal workforce requirement for the department.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a Master’s degree in clinical human medical disciplines such as Internal Medicine, Paediatrics or an equivalent. Also, hold a Bachelor Degree in Medicine and General Surgery
At least eight years of professional experience in a hospital setting among which (3) should have been at the same or equivalent level.
Past research experience with publishing record in peer review medical journals.
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a team player
